Quality and reproducibility

The quality series is the applied version of a documented problem: protocol reporting in this field is not standardised, and two clinics running the same published protocol routinely get different results. Twelve bulletins on verifying your own machine, documenting a protocol properly, and knowing when one cannot be transferred at all.

Why the same protocol gives different results

Figure. The physics is identical in every clinic. The rotor radius, the tube, the anticoagulant, and the draw are not. A systematic review of the PRF literature found 29 protocols across 16 machines and no standardisation in how any of it is reported.
