# Horizontal centrifugation

Horizontal centrifugation spins tubes in a swing-out rotor so they lie flat under load. It produces even, perpendicular layers and is specified by solid PRF protocols.

The distinction between horizontal and fixed-angle centrifugation is one of the six parameters a protocol must state under the AR2T3 reporting standard.
