# Calcium chloride

Calcium chloride is used to activate platelets in citrate-anticoagulated PRP. Citrate anticoagulants work by binding calcium, so adding calcium back restores the clotting cascade and triggers platelets to release their growth factors. Whether a protocol activates before injection, and with what, is a real fork in the product.
